Users of Epson 6 color printers that use Claria dye ink now have a pigment ink solution that will provide vastly superior print longevity than Epson OEM inks for these printers.
We now have the KLARIAH3 inkset. This latest version strives to retain print neutrality so that the printer can also be used for general documents where advanced color control is not available.
For photoprinting, some form of color management MUST be used. If a letter size width or A4 size printer is used, color managed software such as Adobe Photoshop, Photoshop Elements V6 and later, Lightroom, Aperture, Qimage and others should be used. If a 13" carriage width printer is used, the previous listed software is not necessary as the print driver can itself take care of color management. Instructions on how to do so is here.
As with all pigment inks, there are two forms of black ink. PhotoBlack is used to print on gloss type finishes such as Glossy, Semi Gloss, Luster, Satin and Pearl type finisheds. Matte Black is used to print on most matte non gloss papers.
If the intended use can vary between gloss and matte papers. Refillable cartridges are recommended to allow the switching and CISS systems would be restrictive in switching. If CISS systems are used only drop tube siphon arrangements are recommended for reliability.
